Ephemera (noun) 1. Things that are important or useful for a short time; items that were not meant to have lasting values. 2. Paper items that were originally meant to be discarded after use but have since become collectibles.
Ephemera has been around for many years and we all have been collecting it one way or another ourselves without realizing it. Now paper crafting companies make it easier for us by coming out with their own ephemera packs with a lot of great collectibles in them. Ephemera packs are available with most paper lines now and make it very easy to do a layout, card or other paper crafting project. Mixing and matching these little bits also add great layers to any project with very little effort. Ephemera packs also make it easy for people who hate to fussy cut out images.
Here's a sample of just some of the ephemera packs that are available at paper angel studios. The photos don't really do the packs justice. Tim Holtz offers the same packs, but one is all vellum! The Jillibean Soup Mix the media packs also have buttons and metals and fabrics in theirs and are colour co-ordinated! Other things that could be used for ephemera are:
everyday notes from loved ones, buttons, stones, playing cards, dominoes, concert tickets, broken jewelry, brochures, business cards of places you visited, office supplies, packaging, feathers, flowers (dried of course), and the list could go on....
Use ephemera to trigger those special everyday moments that we chose to scrapbook...and when we look back at the layouts, bring that warmth in our hearts back!
Keep spreading those creative wings!
